Even if the various S&I windows would remember their previous values (separate memories between ME research, PE research, invention, copying, manufacturing, reverse engineering) - it would turn the average "BPO at station, invention at a lab" clickfest from 13 clicks down to about 6-7 clicks.

Currently the API is strictly read only, with some care, it should be possible to make this interactive. Trade orders is one is the first (and possibly easiest / safest) which comes to mind.
Others would be updating skill queue (also a pretty safe one) and so on.
If you think the 0.01 games are bad now - just wait until you can update market orders via the API. Automated order systems would rule the roost and drive out any human, in-game, fair play on the market. There would have to be artificial time limits imposed on trades done through the API (such as 1-hour or 3-hour timers, or no more then 3 changes within a 6 hour window).
And there would probably have to be some sort of broker fee added for changing the order, such as 0.05% of the total order's market value (about 50k ISK on a 100M ISK order to change the price). Which would reduce the number of times that someone can play the 0.01 game before it becomes unprofitable to do so.

Ah, that reminds me - more UI elements which present lists should have the little "filter" box like containers have.
- EVE Mail, let the little filter box quickly search subject lines & sender name, so it allows you to quickly filter down to just EVE mails from a particular person.
- People & Places, let me quickly filter contacts based on corp name, alliance name or player name. Same thing with agents. Bookmarks would need to be filterable based on either region / constellation / system or bookmark name.
- Science & Industry - Jobs List - quick filter on either the system, character, or item being produced name.
- S&I - Blueprints / Corp Blueprints - quick filter on the blueprint name

I have a new one. Why can't the mailing list management be easier?
- Such as automatically kicking anyone who no longer would be allowed to join based on the criteria? I don't care if this happens at downtime.
- Alternately, add corp, alliance and standing information to the list of members in the mailing list UI and let us sort on those columns.

John McCreedy wrote:One thing that's always annoyed me, especially in the heat of combat, is your menu system being reliant upon you being absolutely exact about it. Take BMs for example. When you right click, can you not make it so the menu stays there until you click off the menu rather than it vanishing or moving to a different option if you move the pointer. Like how an internet browser works.
On a related note, existing right-click menus, especially for missions, need to be automatically shortened in some manner so that they don't stretch half-way across the screen. Limit them to about 30-40 characters in some automated fashion. |
